Making Wireless Building Automation a Reality

Building automation had been languishing due to a lack of practical and affordable communications technologies. But, a new ultra-low-power wireless networking technology called ZigBee is making it practical to embed wireless communications into virtually any commercial building automation products. ZigBee can simplify and reduce deployment costs for traditionally hard-wired functions used in buildings including: Lighting control, wireless smoke, fire and CO alarms, heating control, HVAC monitoring, building and room access, utility meter reading, presence detection, air quality/environmental sensors, alarm notification and leak sensors.

ZigBee is backed by more than 200 OEMs, semiconductor companies, and technology providers in building automation.
